Pulmonaryembolism occursmainly in the lower limb vein (distally) and causes
thrombosisto pulmonaryembolism without progression ofanticoagulation
therapy. Generally, distal thrombosis progresses to about 20% proximal, where
the probability ofpulmonaryembolism is about 40% to 50%.
